NEW DELHI, December 1: The Delhi Soccer Association (DSA) sham continues. Struggling to streamline its already delayed Senior Division League, DSA is re-starting the League, but chaos seems to be lurking just round the corner.
After the inaugural match was held on November 19, the event will now kick-start on Sunday, saddled with its bag of problems.
While the available League schedule has been drawn till the preliminary round, one of the promoted outfits has gone ‘untraceable’. Besides, due to the ‘absence’ of its president, who is holidaying in UK, DSA is yet to decide on the prize money.
According to DSA officials, Raisina Sporting have failed to reply to any correspondence from their side. "We mailed them (Raisina) several times. But we got no response. Hence, we ruled them out," DSA secretary NK Bhatia told TOI on Saturday. Besides Raisina, Delhi Police have also stayed away from the event which will now have 14 teams rather than the usual 16.
Raisina, meanwhile, has its take on the ‘untraceable’ blame game. "We were in touch with DSA and even kept a tab on the League proceedings. However, Without any sponsors, we can’t afford to keep players here for months without any tournament," said Raisina secretary Ashit Maity.
Sunday’s matches: Garhwal Heroes vs Bangadarshan FC (12.30pm); Mughals FC vs City Club (2.30 pm).
